Dale Chihuly At the Denver Botanical Gardens

If you are going to be in Denver this fall,  you might want to plan a visit to the Denver Botanical Gardens.  Aside from the beautiful gardens there is currently a show of hand blown glass by renowned artist Dale Chihuly.  The glass sculptures are in and around the various garden beds and water features.  We spent a pleasant afternoon there this July.  The installation will be in place until November with special night exhibits this fall.

I have had a great time grading and putting these little guys into our display case in the commons area,  there are more coming but I couldn't wait to share these. The assignment was to use one or two pinch pots to create a large hollow shape and then attach exaggerated features like eyes, claws and teeth. Super work! I love them all!

Castles in Clay, More Mugs

One of our recent assignments in general art is a soft slab cylinder project.  Students had the choice of making a mug, draped slab pot or a castle.  I have to say I have a soft spot for castles and am hoping to ad more picts to this post as the castles become reality.  On the mug frontier I have Bisque fired some really good ones and can't wait for the glaze fire.

Hour of Code

Congratulations Multimedia I and Web Design students for finishing an Hour of Code.  I was so pleased to see so many of you working so hard on your coding  challenges.  Yes THEY WERE HARD!  However with some persistence I think many of you were pleased with what you learned, and rightfully so!
